Our Ramblen Ambassador for the Bay Area, Caitlin Clancy, brought these Turkey Trots to our attention. We’re still working on getting all the regular Ramblen Bay Area resources pulled together and added to the site but in the meantime for those of you traveling to the Bay Area in California this Thanksgiving….get your Turkey Trot on before the big meal. Okay? Good.
I’m going to start with the Turkey Trot that gives away Pumpkin Pie and Wine but don’t get too excited because registration is CLOSED. However, people dress up as Turkeys, Pilgrims and Native Americans for the event so I think it would be fun to plan a run TO the event and then watch the spectacle and then run back. That way you still get a run in before the Thanksgiving meal. I’m not encouraging banditing the race because clearly that’s bad. I AM encouraging you though to visit their website and keeping their website open while searching all these other Turkey Trots. That way their soundtrack will play for you, because, wow. My favorite was the “I like life” song. It definitely puts you in the Turkey Trot mood.
Silicon Valley Turkey Trot
This one is held in downtown San Jose on Thanksgiving morning. They have kids events, all sorts of different races to compete in that morning. They also have competitions for fastest cop/firefighter, a CEO/celebrity race where CEOs run with their employees and a Veteran’s race. Great idea! Go to their website to register for the event.
FORMA Turkey Trot in Walnut Creek, CA
This one is held in downtown Walnut Creek, CA over in the East Bay. It starts early on Thanksgiving morning and has all sorts of various races, including kids races and a costume contest! It looks like they do have a race day registration but best to check their website for all registration details.
This one is in Marin and starts on Thanksgiving morning. There is a kids race, a 5K and a 10K offered to participants. They also have a referral program for people who get other people to register. Too bad I’m not doing this one because I could really rack up on referrals fees with my big family.
If anyone knows of more Turkey Trots that should be included, please leave a comment and I’ll get it added to the list. Happy Turkey Trotting and safe travels!
