Local fitness enthusiasts know James Island County Park as the home of the Charleston County Sprint Triathlon Series, which hosts events throughout the summer months. The park features 4.2 miles of paved multi-use paths for cyclists and pedestrians in addition to a host of other amenities, including the Outdoor Center. Unique to James Island County Park, the Outdoor Center features a 50-foot climbing wall, a bouldering wall, and a ropes course that can be used independently or rented out for a group. If you’re looking to get in different cross training, this is the place to do it! The park also offers boat and bike rentals, an off-leash dog park, and a playground in addition to open meadows. While there is a pond in the middle of the park that hosts the swim portion of the Charleston County Sprint Triathlon Series, the pond is not open for open-water swimming the rest of the year. The entry fee for the park is only $1, and the resources you’ll be greeted with upon entry make it more than worth your donation!
