Charlotte’s most popular running store is located in the popular Dilworth Shopping Center on East Boulevard, close to Freedom Park. The full-service store offers video gait analysis on a treadmill in the store, and runners are tested in a neutral shoe. The store carries all major shoe brands, including the increasingly popular Hokas and Newtons, although its most minimalist shoes feature a 4 mm drop; the store does not carry “true” minimalist brands.” A full line of nutrition products is available for purchase, including Gu, Hammer, Clif, and Honeystinger. The store also offers a complete selection of apparel for all types of weather. The staff is friendly, outgoing, and prides itself on community involvement. Group runs are offered several nights a week:

  • Mondays, 6:30 pm: This Meet Up group, known as the Charlotte Runners, meets at the store for a 4.5 mile group run each Monday. Runs are often sponsored by vendors and feature refreshments. While 7-10 minute miles are the predominant paces, all paces are welcome and the route is marked, so there is no fear of getting lost!
  • Thursdays, 6:30 pm: This group run is not specifically sponsored by the store, but does meet at the East Boulevard location. The group goes varying distances each week, and all paces are welcome.

The most popular Charlotte-area group run is not sponsored by the store, but is nonetheless recommended! More than 100 people meet each week at NoDa Brewing Company on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. If you’re looking for a great running welcome to the city, this is it!

  1. The Thursday night run is now officially sponsored by the store AND they installed a tap in the store and host a little post-run alcoholic refreshment social hour :)
