Sherman Branch Mountain Bike Park

Sherman Branch Mountain Bike Park

3824 Camp Stewart Road, Charlotte, NC

Open daily sunrise to sunset

It is important to note that the parking lot for the facility is not located on Camp Stewart Road despite the address above. When using a GPS, continue on Rocky River Church Road past Camp Stewart Road and the parking lot will be located shortly after the intersection on the left. The gravel lot has space available for 30-40 cars and does fill up on the weekends, but cyclists typically move in and out quickly, freeing up space for other riders. Gates are opened at sunrise and are locked at sunset, so no night riding is allowed.

While the Sherman Branch Mountain Bike Park may not offer the closest mountain bike trails to downtown Charlotte, the facilities are generally considered second to none. The Sherman Branch Mountain Bike Park is the home base of the Tarheel Trail Blazers Mountain Bike Club, which regularly hosts rides at the park. The wooded park offers plenty of elevation change and the perfect environment for cyclists. The main trail loop is 8 miles in length, while the lake and “roller coaster” loops add on approximately two miles each. While running is allowed at the park, it is intended for cyclists, so runners are required to yield to cyclists on the trails. Like all trail facilities in Charlotte, the park closes when there is a rain or snow event until the trails are dry. The Tarheel TrailBlazers website offers a list of trail statuses, so riders are encouraged to check before they go.
