This unique Mexican restaurant is located in a non-descript shopping center on North Market Street on the Northshore of Chattanooga.  Tucked away in the corner of the parking lot, you’ll know you’re in the right place if you see their branded El Camino parked in front of their big outdoor patio.  Don’t let the location fool you; the food and drink inside are worth it.

Start off with chips and guacamole, which is made fresh when you order it, or try the salsa sampler with fresh-fried tortilla chips.  All of their salsas are made in house with the freshest ingredients.

The best deal at Taco Mamacita is two tacos with your choice of a side.  You can mix and match your tacos, and you should, because there is nothing run-of-the-mill about the taco options here.  Whether it’s the Oy Vey (chipotle beef brisket with Mama’s Ranchero Sauce), the Shrimp Po’Boy BLT (Creole fried shrimp with remoulade, bacon, and jalapeno lime mayo), or the Loaded Gyro (thinly-sliced lamb with baja white sauce and feta cheese), this isn’t just your typical ground beef and cheese type of place.  There are gluten-free and vegan menus available, with tweaked versions of many of the regular menu options; just ask for the separate menu.  Taco Mamacita makes everything fresh, so they aren’t afraid of special requests.

The best side dish, in our opinion, is the Mexican Street Corn (they’ll take it off the cob for you) or the sweet potato fries.  Also an unconventional side option, but Taco Mamacita is the opposite of conventional. There’s a full bar here, and our favorite drink here is the (conventional) margarita.  Ole!
