Lyfe Kitchen is the healthy traveler’s haven. Located amongst a multitude of hotels and hot spots, Lyfe Kitchen is a healthy fast-casual concept driven by the idea that delicious food doesn’t need to be hidden behind extra fat, sugar, and preservatives. Executive chefs Art Smith (Oprah’s former personal chef) and Tal Ronnen (The Conscious Cook) created a menu that is seasonally driven with organic and local ingredients when possible, responsibly produced, and focused on flavor, nutrition, and sustainability. In fact, all dishes on the menu are under 600 calories, supporting the idea that quality and craftsmanship beget flavor.
Art’s Unfried Chicken accompanies baby kale salads and chocolate chip cookies (served warm)–so fear not, there are plenty of options for everyone, whether they are focused on cleaner eating or more decadent choices. The carrot, zucchini and walnut muffins one of my favorite choices, and my husband agrees!
Everything is made fresh to order, so be sure to allow about 10 minutes for most orders. The average meal costs between $7-10 but may be a bit more if you are getting specialty items or adding on a juice. Free cold seltzer, water, and even room temp water are complimentary, but there is a small upcharge for dining in, as they have food runners and bussers to take care of you. Trust me, you will gladly concede the few extra dollars; Lyfe Kitchen is notable for having some of the most helpful and friendly staff and fast, casual and personable service. The decor is crisp, clean, modern, and provides the perfect backdrop to the food. They even have a mini -garden! The room is comfortable, chic, and WiFi is free – just ask for the code! Driving isn’t recommended due to the downtown location, but street meter parking and a parking garage are available if necessary. Otherwise, take the L or walk!
