If you go to Colorado Springs and don’t make time to visit Garden of the Gods Park, you’re seriously missing out. This amazing natural resource is free to the public and chock-full of great trails and paths for fitness enthusiasts who are looking for a great view. Grab a trail map at the Visitor’s Center and prepare to enjoy the well-marked trails, which feature a variety of surfaces. Whether it’s smooth dirt, concrete, asphalt, or a technical trail that you’re looking for, you’ll find it here. Cyclists, runners, and hikers are all welcome in the park; a designated cycling lane runs along the road around the park, designated mountain biking trails are available, and restrooms are located at the Visitor’s Center and in the main parking lots. The Central Garden trails are the busiest and are very family friendly, but if you’re looking for an uninterrupted workout, try out some of the less traveled trails. Rock climbing is also possible with a permit, as long as you have the technical gear to back you up. To make a long story short, Garden of the Gods is worth the trip even if you don’t want the workout, but that’s ridiculous – of course you do!
