Although many healthy restaurants cater to the lunch crowd, Harvest Organic Grille offers healthy dining in a more refined atmosphere. With locations in both the Galleria Area and West Houston, the restaurant touts its healthy cooking methods, meaning that all foods will only be grilled, seared or baked. The restaurant doesn’t even own a microwave, so you never have to worry about artificial heating, Harvest does not use any hormones in its meat products, and all meats are organic and free range. In fact, even the pasta is healthy; whole wheat pasta is served instead of white pasta, and a gluten-free option is available. The menu is clearly marked with gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy-free, and raw food icons, and “superfoods” are also noted in a special section of the menu, including kale, quinoa, and salmon. The restaurant has a clean, well-decorated interior and an ambience not typically found in a healthy restaurant. Prices are in line with those of a typical dinner-focused restaurant and are not outrageous, and a lunch menu with smaller portions and lower prices is offered. My friend and I sampled the vegetarian spring rolls as an appetizer and I created my own pizza for dinner, while my friend ordered the gluten-free basil pasta. We both enjoyed our meals; I was impressed by the generosity of the toppings on the pizza, while my friend was pleased to find that the gluten-free pasta tasted like “real” pasta. The food was served in a timely fashion, and the attentive waiter completed our very positive experience at Harvest Organic Grille. The bottom line? Harvest is the perfect place to have a more upscale healthy meal without breaking the bank.
