New Day Bakery offers a quick bite of Morgantown’s organic food scene with its breads, scones, cookies and pizza. With a daily bread rotation, each day the bakery features several loaves of traditional bread such as Italian or sour dough, along with stuffed ciabatta filled with flavors such as pepperoni and mozzarella or caramelized onions with mushrooms and cheddar. They also serve organic coffee and espresso throughout the day. After 4 p.m., the family-owned bakery cranks up its brick oven to cook pizzas. They offer weekly specials which have included General Tso’s, macaroni and cheese and Tiki marsala. The topping offered range in price and vary from traditional olive and mushrooms to chicken, pesto and artichokes. There is no on-site seating except for a few tables they put out during nice weather, so expect to grab your food to go. They also do not deliver but it’s worth stopping by and seeing what you can find hidden in their chandeliers and brick wall. The view of the gigantic oven is impressive too, which makes this a fun, family-friendly place to get a meal!
Prices range from $2 for a cookie (they’re big) to about $6 for a stuffed ciabatta and $13 and up for pizza.
