In hilly Omaha, the Riverfront Trail is an oasis for those looking to get a longer run or ride in on a flat surface. The Riverfront Trail, a concrete multi-use path approximately 10 feet in width, extends 10.8 miles along the Missouri River. The trail has numerous shaded sections along with lengthy unshaded expanses and passes through wetlands, parks, and along roads – the environment is truly varied! While there are no water fountains or benches along the trail, there are some porta potties at various parks along the route, including N.P. Dodge Park. There are plenty of parking areas along the trail, but N.P. Dodge Park has a large lot and may be best for groups. The route has relatively few turns and intersections, making it a good fit for cyclists who are hoping for an uninterrupted ride. Those who prefer softer surfaces will find some single track trail next to the paved path, but this is not available in all areas. Leashed dogs are welcome!
