Although billed as vegetarian cuisine, this highly-rated restaurant in Center City is actually entirely vegan. Mi Lah focuses on using organic ingredients from local farms in all of its recipes instead of heavy sauces and condiments. Foods from a variety of Asian countries are served, including the house specialty, which is a Vietnamese hoagie made with tofu.  Other options include pad Thai, pho, and an Indonesian dinner plate. Most meals feature seitan as the protein source, but tofu is also available. The restaurant prides itself on its “cheesesteak” option and also serves daily specials and soups.  Seating is available both upstairs and downstairs, and the restaurant can get quite busy at lunch. There are limited gluten-free options, and these items are not indicated on the menu. The service is incredibly quick; I ordered the Vietnamese hoagie and a cup of soup and was served in less than five minutes.  The hoagie was flavorful and had some spice, and the bread was delicious! Mi Lah is definitely a good choice if you’re looking for vegan food at a reasonable price, but keep in mind that there is a $15 minimum order for credit cards, so come prepared!
