Hello! I’m Janessa, and I’m from the Memphis, TN area. I love fitness and being active, especially running. I always played sports growing up, but never looked at it as exercise. It wasn’t until I had my daughter and graduated college that I realized I had to incorporate exercise into my life not just for fun but for my health and to set a good example for my daughter.
Running races started for me in 2006 because all my friends were signed up for a 5k. I casually did races for many years before I finally took the plunge and signed up for my first half marathon. Despite being terrified and absolutely sure it would be a one time thing, I finished and fell head over heels in love with running. My first half was in April 2014 and I registered for my second as soon as registration opened for the St Jude half in Memphis this coming December. When I’m not running, I like to hit the gym for group classes or lifting weights. Both of those have been keys to my fitness over the last 10 years. I like to have variety in my workouts, I hear it’s the spice of life!
I look forward to sharing my little piece of the world with the Ramblen community. If you would like to hear more about me or what I have going on, you can check me out on instagram @janessa1020 or on my blog, Running on Empty (www.runningonemptyblog.com)
