Seven years ago I began running as a way to maintain my weight loss. I quickly became passionate about running after experiencing the incredible satisfaction of achieving my first 4 mile race. As my confidence and abilities grew, I began giving back to the running community through volunteer activities as pacer, coach, race committee member, and board member. By postings on social media sites such as Facebook and Daily Mile, I have encouraged and motivated others to become active and improve their health and well-being. This enthusiasm for fitness has extended into my corporate work, as I was a founding member of Freightquote’s race committee and led their Kansas City Corporate Challenge team to Champions of Division B in 2013.
The best parts of my running journey though have been the friendships my husband and I have made while traveling the US on our quest to run a marathon in all 50 states and the strengthening of our marriage as we cover many of the miles together. Our family has had some incredible running vacations, including watching our son Brandon run the 2012 Boston Marathon. When we’re not traveling to other states, we enjoy logging miles on the streets and trails of Kansas City and pacing local events. Looking forward to sharing tidbits about our city to make your visit to KC a “moving” one!
