This health-conscious café in downtown Bethesda offers two menus – both regular and gluten-free – and is known for making gluten-free items taste “normal.” Hailed as a haven for those with serious gluten intolerances and allergies, the Lilit Café offers sandwiches, wraps, pizza, salads and entrees, all of which are available both with and without gluten. The restaurant takes gluten-free eating so seriously that there is a designated gluten-free station in the kitchen. Entrees tend to be of the Middle Eastern persuasion, but there are plenty of American-style dishes, particularly as the sandwiches are concerned. Patrons may order at the counter or from waiters at this casual, deli-style restaurant.  The store inside the restaurant sells homemade gelato, wine, and beer, all of which can be purchased and consumed inside the restaurant. A parking garage with metered parking is located next door, although street parking and very limited lot parking is also available. My purchase of the Torino sandwich, which included chips, cost $8, making this a great casual lunch option.
