Mind the Mat is a yoga studio with many personalities. Upon entering you are greeted by a cozy check-in room, where you will be welcomed and told where to go for your class. The studio offers many different styles of yoga, pilates, and barre at a variety of levels, so anyone from beginner to advanced is sure to be challenged. There are three unique studio rooms on three separate floors, each providing a distinct atmosphere. Blocks and straps are provided, but you are advised to bring your own mat if possible; if you do not have one, they will lend them out.

The instructor of the class I took was extremely knowledgeable about yoga, fitness, and anatomy. She was able to work with students and help them perform to their particular limits. Mind the Mat offers a variety of classes, clinics, and other specialized courses for anyone looking to challenge themselves or try something new. With one location in the heart of the up-and-coming trendy Del Ray district of Alexandria, VA on Mt. Vernon Avenue, and another in Arlington, the studio is convenient for visitors to the D.C. area. Parking can be found on the street or in the parking lot in the rear with a pass that you can get at the front desk.
